Hello Everybody,

As of today, we have 14 people in 9 planes "planning" to fly to Arlington.

However, "There is many a slip, between the cup and the lip" (Red Burrows).

The attachment AWO INFO.doc has names of people, planes, rooms, cars, etc.

Here's my recommendation for a fun flying route to/from Arlington (AWO). I

picked airports, fuel stops and scenic fixes from old CG-18 and CF-16 WAC

charts used on previous trips. It's probably familiar to some of you.

In general, fly inland along the Eastern side of California's Central Valley

to Mt Shasta, Crater Lake, Eastern side of the Cascade Mtns by Mt Hood,

cross the Cascades in the Columbia River Gorge to Mt St Helens, and up to

AWO. Returning home, fly down the West side of the Cascades via Washington

and Oregon Valleys, the California coastal Redwoods, Golden Gate Bridge,

maybe a late lunch stop at Catalina, then to San Diego. Weather permitting!

In detail below, the trip is >1,000 miles each way. Fly each way in three

hops of 3.0-3.5 hrs and land for; 1)fuel, 2)fuel and RON (remain overnight),

and 3)destination. Take offs can be staggered so we meet at fixes/stops at

the same time. At your convenience, look over these flights, and based on

your plane and personal comfort range, add/delete fuel stops/fixes you'd

rather fly to. We'll discuss changes, if any, at a Fly-In in a few months.

         Green Valley (Pvt) (N48.06, W122.01) (final fix for arrival procedure)

         Arlington, WA (AWO) on July 9th. (255 miles?)

Arlington, WA (AWO) to San Diego, CA on July 12th.

         Kent, WA (S36)

         Portland, OR (PDX)

         Brookings, OR (BOK) FUEL STOP and RON? (380 miles?)

         McBeth/Klamath, CA (S51) (over the Redwoods)

         San Francisco, CA (SFO) (over Golden Gate Bridge)

         Salinas, CA (SNS) FUEL STOP and RON? (350 miles?)

         Camarillo, CA (CMA)

         Avalon/Catalina, CA (AVX). Lunch (skip for "get-home-itis"?)

         San Diego, CA on July 13th (325 miles?)
